Immunizations for College Students

See your doctor about immunizations for college students.

Numerous colleges and universities require incoming freshman to receive Hepatitis B immunization.  This immunization is given in 3 doses over a 5- to 6-month period.  Ask you doctor if you need to be immunized against Hepatitis B, and if you do, get the first shot this month so can finish the series of 3 shots before you leave for college in fall 2008.

Also, before you arrive on-campus in August-September 2008, you will be asked to provide proof of immunization against measles and rubella or measles, mumps, and rubella.
Additionally, most colleges recommend incoming freshman who will live in on-campus housing be immunized against meningitis (meningococcal disease).

Check the immunization requirements of colleges you have been accepted to and receive all immunizations you need ahead of schedule.
